Lesvos - the beginning

By George

View from our apartment Pano Sto Kyma

So here we are in the Island of Lesvos, in the beautiful seaside village of Agios Isidoros. This is where Dad’s mum is from and we’re staying in a little apartment on the beach just down the road from Dad’s mum’s old house.

My grandmother's old house

It’s been 18 years since Barb and I were here, when we stayed in the old house. 18 years and things don’t seem to have changed much...just that we pay in euro rather than drachma.

Thankfully the siesta is one of the unchanged traditions, and we had our first yesterday.

  1. Ah, right by the sea -- fantastic!!! Are you indulging in lots of delicious Greek food?

Fabulous tradition, the siesta. Very civilised. A tradition New Zealand should adopt!

Looking forward to seeing more photos and hearing what you guys are up to. Have fun!!!
